Affiliate Disclosure

Published September 10, 2026

The plain-English version: ThePawManual is free to read. Right now, we're in no affiliate program and we run no ads. We earn nothing from anything you click on this site. We expect that to change: this page explains exactly how affiliate links will work once we join a program, and it will be updated the day that happens, in line with the FTC's endorsement guidelines (16 CFR Part 255).

An affiliate link is a product link that pays the site a small commission if you buy after clicking it. The price you pay is identical either way: the commission comes from the retailer's side, not yours. We don't have any affiliate links live yet. When we join a program, we'll name it here specifically, and if that program requires a particular disclosure sentence, we'll include it verbatim.

Our commitments, starting now

These hold whether or not we're earning anything yet, and they don't change once we are:

  1. Recommendations come first, links come second. Our buying guides are researched and written on selection criteria (the specs that matter, the designs that fit which dogs). If we add affiliate links to them later, that order doesn't reverse: commission rates will never rank a product.
  2. We tell you what we haven't done. Where we haven't hands-on tested a product, our guides teach you how to choose instead, a distinction our editorial process covers in more detail.
  3. We'll recommend against a purchase when that's the truth. That means telling you when the cheap option is fine, when a product class is a bad idea entirely, and when a purchase won't fix a behavior problem. We'll say so even when it costs us a commission we'd otherwise earn.
  4. Disclosure will appear where the links are. Any page that carries affiliate links will note it near the top and link here, not buried in a footer you'd never read.

Display advertising

No ads run on this site today. If that changes, this section will name the network, and cookie and data details will live in the privacy policy as usual. One thing that won't change either way: sponsored posts and paid placements dressed up as editorial. We don't do them (editorial process).

Why tell you all this

Because a recommendation you can't audit is worthless, and that's as true before the first commission as after it. Judge our product guides with this in hand, and call us out if we ever fall short of these commitments.
