Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-09-10 ยท This site, thepawmanual.com, is operated by Mikkel Werner Jansen and Thomas Hjalte Bojsen ("we," "us"), who are the data controllers for any personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect very little, we sell nothing, and, as of this policy's effective date, we run no analytics or advertising on the site at all.

Information we collect

  • You give us: whatever you include when you contact us, typically a name, email address, and your message. Used only to respond and maintain correspondence.
  • Collected automatically: the basic technical logs that our hosting infrastructure and the WordPress software generate to run the site (for example, IP address, browser type, and pages requested). We don't run any analytics service, so this data isn't analyzed, aggregated, or used to build a profile of you; it exists only as an ordinary operational by-product of serving the page.
  • We do not collect: account data (no accounts exist), payment data (nothing is sold on-site), or any special-category personal data. Our calculators run in your browser and do not transmit your inputs to us.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

This site runs no analytics service, shows no third-party advertising, and isn't part of any affiliate program today. That means no analytics, advertising, or affiliate-tracking cookies are set. WordPress itself may set a small number of cookies in limited situations, for example if one of us signs in to administer the site, but a normal visit sets none.

We're keeping this section in three parts so it's ready for what's planned, without needing a rewrite when it happens:

  1. Analytics: not in use. If we add an analytics service, we'll name it here, describe what it collects, and update the retention detail in "Retention, security, and changes" below.
  2. Advertising: not in use. If we join an ad network, we'll name it here and add whatever disclosures and opt-out mechanisms that network requires (networks like AdSense, Mediavine, and Raptive each mandate specific language).
  3. Affiliate links: not in use; we're not part of any affiliate program yet. When that changes, this section and our affiliate disclosure will both describe the retailer cookies involved.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so won't change your experience today, since an ordinary visit to this site doesn't set any cookies to begin with.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Today, the only party we share anything with is our hosting provider, as needed to keep the site running, or a relevant authority if we're legally required to. We don't share data with any analytics or advertising service, because we don't use one; if that changes, this section will name who.

Your rights

  • All visitors: contact us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold (realistically: your correspondence).
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA) and residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws: you may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information we hold, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't run any advertising or analytics service that would count as "sharing" under these laws. There is nothing to opt out of today as a result.   • EU/UK visitors: to the extent the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to our processing of your data, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and receive a copy of the personal data we hold on you, and the right to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest. Our basis for the limited technical logs described above is legitimate interest in operating the site; for anything you send us directly, it's the consent you give by contacting us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. We don't currently run analytics or advertising services that would need a separate consent mechanism. If we add one, we'll put the consent tool it requires in place first and describe it here.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information (COPPA). If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Retention, security, and changes

Correspondence is kept only as long as it's useful to us (for example, to follow up on a correction or a question). We don't hold analytics data, because we don't collect any today; when we add an analytics service, we'll state its actual retention period here rather than an estimate. We use standard security measures but no internet transmission is guaranteed secure. Policy changes are posted here with an updated effective date.
